SSC - What you need to know!

When is the STEM STUDY Center open?

Spring 2026 - OPENING DAY Monday January 12th! When coming in for tutoring - make sure to SIGN IN! by scanning the QR code each time you visit the center AND sign-out with your tutor or in the google sheet.

Individual tutoring sessions are held in the small conference rooms in the front of the common area. Meet your tutor in the front of the common area.  Appointments are required for one-on-one tutoring sessions and can be made here. The SSC hours of operation vary per semester.

Appointment hours:

MTWR from 11am - 4pm

Appointments must be made at least one day in advance so that you will be guaranteed time to meet with someone who is prepared and qualified to help with your particular math course.

When should I come in?

For face-to-face appointments, you should walk into the common area (first floor in the new Computing and Mathematics Building) a few minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Your STEM Peer Tutor will meet you at the collaboration room for your appointment. Check out who your tutor is here.

Mathematics is a skill like any other and must be practiced; therefore we recommend that you do NOT wait until the last minute to schedule an appointment. Take advantage of this free service that can be an invaluable part of your UNA experience.

What do I need to bring with me when I come?

You should come prepared with the same items you need for your STEM classes: pencil, paper, notes from class, textbook (or MML login information), computer, and calculator.

Do I need to have an appointment?

No! You can come in without an appointment, BUT to guarantee time with a tutor for your particular course you should make an appointment. Otherwise, tutors may already be working with other students. You can schedule a 30-minute appointment in the SSC here. If you need more than half an hour with a tutor, you can schedule more than one appointment, or consider spending time in the drop in tutoring area where there are more people that might be able to help!

How much does it cost?

All Mathematics Learning Center services are **free** to currently enrolled students of UNA. But - to make sure we can maintain this service for you on campus, whether you came for an appointment or just dropped in to work near the tutors make sure you:
